Here are the ribbon colors you need to match Gymboree’s February 2010 A Pop of Daisies line.  These ribbon colors will make the perfect M2MG accessories!  Feel free to post any questions or suggestions regarding made to match hair bows, headbands or clips.

Based on that tee, here are the best grosgrain ribbon color matches:

• S Capri Blue
• S Lt Navy
• O Bluebird
• White

These are all very good matches.  Check back for an update in a week or so, when I will confirm whether these colors are true matches for the rest of the line.

I was surprised to see that one of the CPSC commissioners, Anne Northup, mentioned the close of my business, JenLynnDesigns, in her Wall Street Journal Op-Ed dated 12/23/09.  The attention would have been nice had it come before having closed due to the unmanageable CPSIA testing requirements nearly a year ago!

This cute Gymboree line was pretty easy to match with not too many colors to fool around with!  Use these grosgrain ribbon colors for all your custom accessories made to match Gymboree’s 2009 Garden Friends line.  Note: Fantasy Rose matches the lighter pink in some of the prints, but is not the primary pink.   For that you want Offray Shocking Pink.

Making made-to-match accessories or custom items to match Gymboree’s 2009 Kitty Glamour line is easy!  There are only four main colors in this line and these are the grosgrain ribbon colors you’ll need.

Use these ribbon colors to make your own hair bows, headbands, ribbon belts, pony streamers or other accessories to match Gymboree’s Super Star collection!  Tropic Lilac is the right hue, but is a bit light.  If you find a better color match for Gymboree’s Purple Flower, please let me know!

These ribbons are all really good matches… except for French Pink.  Once again, Gymboree is using Kitty Pink and I’m still not satisfied with French Pink as the match.  Let me know if you come up with something better.  I’d also love to see your M2MG Gingerbread Girl hair bows, headbands and more, so post a link if you want to show off your designs!  Also, please note that I have supplied two different matches for Gymboree’s “Olive”: Schiff’s Olive matches the KG cardigan (which is darker), and the velour pieces are closer to Offray’s Moss.  If you want to standardize on one, I’d probably pick S Olive, but if I knew my client wanted bows to match the velour pieces, I’d be sure to use Moss for that.

Finally a collection that is easy to match!  These ribbon colors are a great match for Janie and Jack’s Beautifully Adorned collection.  Feel free to post links to your accessories made to match this line!

Please note that the gray colors are only in the KG Holiday Panda line, so they are not included in the top list, but are detailed in the “Gymboree Colors” section.  Also, I did not get a chance to check out the Dark Grey Heather color in person so I’m only making a guess that it is Flannel Grey.  If you have matched it in person, please let me know what you found!

Here are my ribbon matches for Gymboree lines: Purrfect Autumn (Kid Girl) and Fall for Monkeys (Baby Girl).  If you find a better ribbon color for Gymboree’s Sunrise Orange, Sunset Gold, or Sea Pink, I’d love to hear from you, as the colors listed here for those are not perfect matches, but the closest I could find.  Have fun creating M2MG hair bows and accessories for this cute collection!

Dear Chairmen and Ranking Members:

I am at a loss to comprehend how the Committee hearing set for September 10, 2009 in which the Hon. Inez Tenenbaum, Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is scheduled to testify on the implementation of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) can be of any benefit to Congress or the citizens you represent without additional testimony from affected parties, especially the small businesses devastated by this law.

These overly-broad regulations have wreaked havoc on small businesses, crafters, and artisans producing a wide array of safe, domestically made products.  These products are good for our kids and good for our economy.  Thousands of letters to this committee and to the CPSC have detailed “unintended consequences” including business closures, like mine.  I would argue that the implementation of CPSIA has made my children significantly less safe.  Consider:

• Because of CPSIA, the CPSC is now busy issuing yard sale regulations, advising the ALA to sequester old library books, writing “handbooks” explaining that only used clothing without zippers, snaps, buttons or screen prints are fit be donated, reused or sold, as well as producing lengthy legalese detailing (without any clarity) the difference between a ball point pen intended to be used by a child vs. one intended to be used by an adult, but which may appeal to a child.  All this, instead of using the Commission’s resources to police the marketplace for real dangers.
• Because of the CPSIA (inspired by the 2007-8 toy recalls) Mattel (one of the offenders) has received approval to test their own products in-house, while everyone else is subjected to expensive (and objective) third-party testing.  How does that make my kids safer?  Not to mention, how is this good government practice: the offender is rewarded with less competition (through small business closures), and cost-cutting self-policing, while the innocent get regulated out of business?

The few steps the CPSC has taken to ease implementation have questionable relevance, as State Attorneys General retain the right to enforce the law as Congress wrote it – and as it remains today – unchanged due to this committee’s unwillingness to fix the obvious and fatal flaws.

I urge you to reconsider.  Hold hearings in good faith with real testimony from those affected.  Rework the law to allow the CPSC the latitude to focus its resources on actual risks, allow small businesses to achieve compliance by using compliant component parts, and require State Attorneys General wishing to enforce the law, to do so only according to the CPSC’s interpretation of the law, as businesses cannot reasonably be accountable to fifty different interpretations of the law.
