Aug 09 Ribbon Colors to Match Janie and Jack’s Orchard Harvest

*REVISED 9/12/09: I have updated this post to use Chalk Violet rather than Dark Orchid, as it is a better match for Janie and Jack’s “Fall Lavender”.  I also added Milk Chocolate (Mud Pie is good too) as it appears in some of the print details (but is not a primary color).  I’m still happiest with Spring Moss for “Dark Harvest Green”, while it’s not quite perfect, it is the best of the color samples I have.  I hope that’s helpful!

Feel free to comment with a link to your M2M Orchard Harvest hair bows or accessories incorporating these colors – I’d love to see your designs.

I made a 100 mile round trip to get a pr of clippies from the Orchard line. here is what I have determined… kiwi from Schiff, ivory,Cameo( retired Offray) and I am thinking maybe a majenta which is a retired Offray ribbon as well..Altho the Kiwi is not exact it is the closest of all the greens that I have or can get..I am finding Janie a hard line to match. much more so than Gymboree. Not even sure about the soda fountain line either..

Thanks for sharing your info, Bets! Are you matching only to the clippies, or to the whole line? I must admit I didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to the clippies when I was in the store, but online they look a bit more minty than the green in the clothing pieces. I would just caution that factory made accessories (even same brand/same line) are often not a perfect match for the colors in the clothing pieces. I usually try to standardize on colors in the tops, as they will be closest to the hair accessories, and there can be a fair amount of color discrepancy even within a line. I’d love to know your method for matching! -Jen

Well, I went into the store today and truly didnt look as closely as prehaps i should have, but I will say the clips are not mint. Not seafoam but a muted shade of mint, prehaps is the best word. But I plan on using the clip in my center so that was why I purchased it.. Personally I couldnt afford a pc of the collection, which would have made it better that is sure.. I am thinking of the cameo color, which is a mauvy shade does match to a tee and will be the one that I focus on with adding just a touch of the green in the bow. But we shall see how it turns out. will post on my website when completed

Great, I can’t wait to see it, Bets! The clip will make a very pretty bow center, for sure. And I agree that using the best color match for most of the bow, and limiting the usage of an iffy match is a smart approach. I haven’t designed anything to match this line yet (and don’t really anticipate that I will) so I can’t wait to see what you come up with. I do like the collection, even if it is difficult to match! Thanks for your input.

I will say the kiwi is much closer than spring moss in matching.LOL

Opps, my bad!!Leave it to an ole girl to mess up!! LOL It is Sage instead of Kiwi that is the closer match… Still working hard to match all the colors. Came up with (O)burgandy,(S)sage and (O)chalk violet.. We shall see!!

Copied your comment to this post, Bets, since it pertains to the colors in this line:

Bets says: Love your cute little bow Jen. it is so sweet… I am seeing now the conflict I had within myself on the harvest green…yes, I agree that springmoss matches the dark harvest but I am thinking on terms of the harvest green smock top.. any thoughts on it?

Jen’s Reply: Sorry, but I will not be able to make it to the store again for a week or two to review this line. My original post above has my best matches, but I’d be happy to double-check them the next time I’m there! -Jen

Thanks Jen… I will go with my gut as I am having doubts about other colors as well. Just wished I didnt live 50 miles from the store…ugh
    thanks again,
    Bets
